Celebrations and Ceremonies
This page has several paintings derived from myths.
Kali has a very bad reputation in myths. She is dark and dangerous and death-dealing. But my Kali, is a skinny old lady with a sharp tongue and a wicked sense of humor - a crone: wise, funny, powerful, and sometimes cranky.
The "gatherings" and "circles" in my paintings come from my experiences with over 25 years of women meeting and camping on my land in Nevada County. I have an addiction to the feelings engendered when ageless, powerful, loving women join together around a fire to drum, dance and holler.
Some of the dancers are celebrating solstices and equinoxes.
